We're turning 3!
We can't believe Elva Mae is still here after three years! It's so humbling to reflect on where we started, and where we are today. If you've been with us since we launched on September 18th, 2018, you've seen how much the brand has evolved. Thank you all so much for your continued support & love. Cheers to many more years of making women look & feel beautiful!
Should Hustle culture be cancelled?
I've been seeing more social media posts about cancelling hustle culture, and normalizing maintaining multiple streams of income and just relaxing while you're making money. For one, I don't know one person personally who does not have to hustle for what they have. There is a lot of hard work needed to maintain the average person's lifestyle. My generation and older are taught that you can relax once you're retired, and even that isn't guaranteed.
Conversely, I do believe there needs to be more space for self care. Our mental, physical, and emotional needs are important, and we should absolutely do what we can to find a balance between work and rest. I'm working on that myself. I'm trying to work my way out of guilt when I take time to just watch t.v. shows at night, or maybe put something off for work to sit with my husband and spend time with him. My career is important to me, but I have to make sure my home is good, and I'm good in order to continue to get my career where I would like it to be (honestly, I'm still trying to figure that out). So yes, on the one hand, hustling non-stop is not healthy for me, or for my relationships, but I also can't sit back and think things will just fall into place while I do nothing.
Until I figure out the secret sauce that allows me to only work part-time and maintain a sustainable income, I will continue to work for what I want. If I make it to that point, you know I'll share the secret with you!
Keep going, Sis. You got this!
